Patina, Patina!

This client-owned 1979 Land Rover Santana Series III, seasoned by Costa Rica’s rugged landscapes, came to Legacy Overland for an expert overhaul. Embracing its storied past, this rebuild retained the Santana’s authentic character while elevating its capabilities for future journeys - all while preserving the patina of decades of adventures in its rugged past. As we preserved the character and charm of time, we made no short-cuts in rebuilding everything “under the surface”.

Now featuring a fully rebuilt engine, reconditioned transmission, and modern electric power steering, the sleek Santana blends legendary toughness with driving ease. The brakes, bearings, and seals have all been refreshed, while a complete wiring renewal ensures electrical reliability. High-performance headlights, a new classic-style bench replacing bucket seats, and a weather-resistant soft top give this Series III everything it needs to conquer any terrain, from coast to mountain – ready to roam anew. To further harken back to those glorious 1970s days, we rebuilt the interior to match seats and features that would have been originally found in the Series 3 as it played the Central American jungle roads.

This Land Rover Series III is adventure-ready, preserving the spirit of its past with upgrades that promise many miles yet to come.
