Rugged wanderlust

Finished in a custom blue paint job, this iconic 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser BJ40 is the perfect time capsule of a diesel-powered Land Cruiser 40-series truck. The bulletproof B-type four-cylinder Diesel engine powers the truck across any terrain. As a part of the restoration process, power steering and all around in-house developed disc brakes were added providing improved handling and drivability.

The hardtop Land Cruiser rides on 16” split rim steel wheels with Cooper Discoverer STT Pro 285 wide off-road tires with classic Toyota chrome hub caps. The rear tires feature vintage reproduction Toyota TEQ mudflaps.

Authentic perfection

This build’s interior features a spectacular hand-crafted light camel leatherette upholstery with micro perforated seating surfaces. The floor is covered by a practical custom black vinyl floor carpet with black edge trim.

The client that commissioned this build wanted to have an optional forward-facing rear bench with seatbelts installed; the Legacy Overland team custom built a removable bench maintaining the original style. The rear sideways benches were kept so that the BJ40 can be switched to a standard seeing configuration as well.

The interior was upgraded with Legacy Overland designed, custom air conditioning system and a RetroSound media receiver with Bluetooth. The combination of low-end torque diesel, functional styling and ruggedness create a simply timeless and unrivaled overlander.
