Meticulous restoration
Thousands upon thousands of man-hours were invested in restoring this 1979 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 hardtop. The car was broken down into the last and smallest components and everything was restored, refurbished or replaced. Mechanically, the build received the meticulous Legacy Overland treatment; the Toyota 2F engine received new pistons, rings, sleeves, bearings (main, rod, cam), surfaces machined, valve seats ported and crank and cam polished; the main gearbox and transfer case were rebuilt with new synchros, bearings; and differentials and wheel hubs received new rings and bearings.
The front brakes were upgraded to discs and a power steering unit was installed. The carburetor was upgraded to a free flowing Weber unit with electric choke. The suspension was replaced with an ARB / Old Man Emu set up, including leaf springs, shocks, shackles and bushings.
Distressed full grain leather
The upholstery was hand crafted in full grain distressed leather with black edge piping throughout. A custom-made, upholstered cubby box was built to keep clutter out of the way. An extra strength roll bar was fitted inside with four four-point racing-style seat belts for the rear benches. Creature comfort upgrades include RetroSound vintage Bluetooth-enabled radio with four speakers, including two mounted in custom speaker boxes in the rear, USB charging port and an under dash slimline air conditioning unit.
