A Tale of Bespoke Excellence
A vintage truck is like a walk of life: you should be able to build your own.
With that philosophy in mind, Legacy Overland proudly presents the restoration of the utilitarian and robust Toyota Land Cruiser RJ70. Acquired in Switzerland for a custom client, this commissioned build was meticulously reimagined for power, utility, and unmistakable, classic style.
Powerfully responsive
In order to bring back this functional off-roader to is glorious days, the heart underwent a full rebuild. In what is fairly certainly a world-first, the original engine was swapped for a powerful GM 5.3L LM7 Vortec V8 and further upgraded with brand new pistons, bearings, machined surfaces, injectors, control system, and auxiliaries to deliver an exhilarating 330 bhp and 320 ft-lb of torque.
The transmission was expertly rebuilt, changed to an automatic GM 4L60e, and equipped with a new torque converter. We also integrated it with a satin black Lokar shifter, offering smooth, responsive shifting, while the rebuilt transfer case with custom-fabricated linkages guarantees that no terrain is too challenging.
Readily gripping
Because a new life requires more than a new heart, we paired it with a newly overhauled steering, braking, and suspension system, ensuring unparalleled control and handling, whether navigating city streets or conquering rugged trails. With the addition of a new Cooper Discoverer tire package, the reborn Land Cruiser RJ70 stands ready for any adventure, combining enhanced grip with a commanding presence.
Unmistakably elegant
While the powertrain and mechanical upgrades are awe-inspiring, no detail has been spared in enhancing the classic off-roader’s aesthetics and comfort. The exterior is repainted in a glossy Toyota Dune Beige, with a striking custom belt-line, red-yellow-green stripe that adds it a dash of flair. The interior has been fully refreshed with subtle, elegant details that invite both functionality and luxury, while the upgraded air conditioning system ensures comfort in all climates.
