Exquisitely distinguished
This 1988 Defender 90 underwent a meticulous restoration process involving several thousand man-hours of work, in-side and out. The inside is a study in perfection, combining supple chestnut colored furniture grade full grain leather acquired from an artisan tannery in Italy with vintage Porsche heath colored German square weave carpeting. The choices inspired by our client’s passion for Singer Porsches as well as interest in interior design.
To make the interior even more comfortable, the front seats, with dark green piping to match the exterior color, were substituted with Range Rover seats, complemented by four custom shaped rear jump seats and alcantara wall and roof liner. The dashboard is upholstered in black leather, including the instrument binnacle housing custom white-faced Legacy Overland gauges. Of course the entire interior has been covered in Dynamat to further improve the driving experience. All hardware inside is in metal, including grab handles, door pulls and lock pins. This interior is simply better than most living rooms.
Mechanically superior
The Heritage green car started its life in the mists of the 1980s as a 5-speed manual, naturally aspirated 2.5L diesel. The car was rebuilt to be powered by a completely rebuilt (new pistons, new bearings, new sleeves, planed and ported, etc) Land Rover 3.9 electronically fuel injected V8, mated to an automatic gearbox and transfer case rebuilt by Ashcroft UK. The transmission tunnel was converted to a NAS Defender type, fully clad in leather. The car is equipped with disc brakes front and rear for improved stopping power. Suspension is slightly lowered and road handling improved through stiffer sway-bars and coil springs.
The car has been winterized with seats of course having seat warmers, a heated front windshield and rear window. For summer days, a custom air conditioning system is included to cool things down.
