Restoring the Roar

Embarking on its latest project, Legacy Overland has taken on the challenge of reviving a 1995 Land Rover Defender 110. While not a full-frame restoration, this overhaul promises to infuse new life into this iconic off-road vehicle, ensuring it retains its legacy while embracing modern upgrades.

Service and Maintenance

The foundation of any restoration lies in meticulous service and maintenance. For this Defender, we delved into every aspect, addressing service items such as brakes and bearings. Wheel bearings received careful attention, ensuring smooth and reliable performance on any terrain. Additionally, a swing-away wheel carrier was installed, enhancing functionality and convenience without compromising the vehicle's rugged aesthetic.

Turbo Replacement

Within the engine bay, we executed a precise turbo replacement procedure. Our technicians meticulously dismantled the worn unit, assessing each component for signs of wear and damage. With a commitment to quality, we selected a premium replacement turbocharger renowned for its durability and performance enhancements. Installation of the new turbocharger was a meticulous process, with attention to detail at every step. Seals, gaskets, and hardware were carefully replaced to ensure a perfect seal and prevent any potential leaks that could compromise performance.

Electrical and Audio Upgrades

Modernizing the Defender's interior, we installed a new sound system. This involved sourcing quality sound system parts, electrical wires, connectors, and a single DIN stereo unit. Every detail, from speaker panels to door seals, was meticulously attended to, ensuring a seamless integration of the audio system into the vehicle's design. Electrical harness repairs and grounding improvements were undertaken, guaranteeing optimal performance and reliability.

Drivetrain Refinement

No off-road adventure is complete without a robust drivetrain. We meticulously inspected and repaired the differential parts, addressing both front and rear assemblies. Bearings, hubs, CV joints, and ball joints were all replaced to ensure peak performance on the trail. The transfer case and differential gear oils were refreshed, enhancing durability and efficiency. A comprehensive rear differential rebuild was executed, including cross-gear disassembly and installation, ensuring reliability under the most demanding conditions.
