We are thrilled to announce our latest restoration project, a 1980 Suzuki LJ80. This classic 4x4 off-road vehicle is the perfect addition to our collection and we cannot wait to bring it back to life.
The LJ80 was introduced in 1977 as the successor to the popular LJ50. It was a compact, lightweight, and agile 4x4 vehicle that quickly gained popularity among off-road enthusiasts. The LJ80 was equipped with a 800cc four-cylinder engine that produced 41 horsepower, making it an excellent choice for both on and off-road adventures.
Our LJ80 came to us in need of some serious TLC. The body had extensive rust damage, and many of the mechanical components were in need of repair or replacement. However, we love a challenge and were excited to get to work.
Our restoration process began with a complete teardown of the LJ80, down to the frame. We inspected every inch of the vehicle to determine which parts could be salvaged and which needed to be replaced. The body required extensive metalwork, with new panels fabricated by hand to replace the heavily damaged areas.
Once the bodywork was complete, we moved on to the mechanical components. We rebuilt the engine and transmission, replacing any worn or damaged parts. We also upgraded the suspension with new shocks and springs to improve the LJ80's off-road capabilities.
As with all of our restorations, we paid close attention to the details. We sourced original or period-correct parts whenever possible, and paid careful attention to the paint and interior to ensure they matched the original specifications. The result is a stunning restoration that is both faithful to the original design and built to modern standards of quality.
One of the most exciting things about this project was the opportunity to bring new life to a vehicle that is increasingly rare and hard to find. The LJ80 is a beloved classic among off-road enthusiasts, and we are proud to have been able to restore one to its former glory.
